SHOP THE LOOK GUIDE

Before you begin bringing your space to life, take a few moments to plan carefully. Every home is unique, and the best results come from thoughtful preparation.

1. Measure Your Space

Before purchasing, measure your room and note key areas like wall lengths, walking paths, and available floor space. Use those measurements to ensure the pieces you select from “Shop the Look” will fit comfortably in your layout and maintain good flow. Use a tape measure—and my personal favorite, blue painter’s tape—to mark out the dimensions of each furniture piece directly on your floor. This gives a realistic sense of scale and flow before anything arrives at your door.

3. Note Architectural Details

Record where windows, doors, and openings are located. Adjust the layout as needed to accommodate traffic flow, natural light, and focal points unique to your space.

4. Order Samples When Possible

If fabric, wallpaper, or finish samples are available, I highly recommend ordering them first. Check colors and textures under your home’s actual lighting conditions—morning, afternoon, and evening—before finalizing your selections.

5. Measure Ceiling Height for Curtains

Curtain rods should be installed as close to the ceiling as possible to elongate the room and create a polished look. Panels should gently brush the floor, fold softly, or puddle slightly depending on your desired style.

6. Plan Thoughtfully

Not every design layout will translate perfectly to your room’s proportions or architecture. Please plan accordingly and make necessary adjustments before making purchases.
